Dr. Michelle Henkelman is a graduate of Texas A&M University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
Originally from the Houston area, Dr. Henkelman is excited to be back home serving her community. She lives with her husband, their two dogs (Princess and June), and their two cats (Colby and Birdie)—and hopes to add another exotic pet to the family soon.
Dr. Henkelman enjoys the team-based approach she shares with her colleagues, the diverse animal species she gets to treat, and is looking forward to the relationships she’ll build at Animal Medical Center over the years to come.
She has a special interest in exotic animal medicine, which began with her pet duck, Hamilton, and continued by tracking Alternative in exotic animal medicine in vet school. During that time, she had the opportunity to work alongside several exotic animal specialists. Dr. Henkelman also enjoys looking at slides under the microscope (cytologies) and is passionate about senior pet care and the huge role preventative care plays in her patients' lives.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Henkelman enjoys gardening, baking, exploring Houston’s food scene, and binge watching TikTok/ Netflix.
